BMI Defense Systems, Inc. is a Native American, woman-owned small business specializing in engineering, developing, and manufacturing components and accessories for military vehicles with an emphasis in force protection. Our proven innovations and products for vehicle systems have set the standard for vehicle and turret gunner safety around the world. We were the first manufacturer of turret gunner safety products in 2005. We work with OEMs, Program Management offices, field level units, prime contractors and international militaries to build quality and superior made in the USA military safety equipment. Since 2004, BMI Defense has taken a proactive approach to meeting our customer's needs from concept to delivery and are privileged to continue doing so while many of our competitor's doors have closed. As a Native American owned company, we are included in the Department of Defense Indian Incentive Program. Prime Contractors can receive a 5% rebate from the Office of Small Business Programs if BMI Defense Systems performs as a sub-contractor. For more information, watch this video.
CERTIFICATIONS
BMI Defense was certified in March 2008 as an 8(a) Program Participant and a Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) by the US Small Business Administration. We have successfully completed and graduated from the program.
BMI Defense Systems teamed with BAE Systems of York, PA for a mentor-protege agreement to work on the MRAP program. Together, BMI Defense and BAE Systems received the highest award, the Nunn-Perry.
BMI Defense has a DCAA approved accounting system. The Defense Contract Audit Agency ensures that businesses maintain internal control systems and practice management policies the provide accuracy of cost representations. This is done through adequacy and reliability of records and accounting systems.
BMI Defense has a DCMA approved Quality Management System. The Defense Contract Management Agency provides contract administration services to the Department of Defense Acquisition Enterprise and its partners to ensure quality products and services to the warfighter on time and within projected cost.

AWARDS & RECOGNITION
Nunn-Perry Award
BMI Defense Systems, Inc. was awarded the Nunn-Perry Award in March 2010. The prestigious Nunn-Perry Award, named in honor of former Senator Sam Nunn and former Secretary of Defense William Perry, was first awarded in 1995 to recognize outstanding Mentor-Protégé teams formed under the auspices of the DoD Mentor-Protégé program. This award honored BMI’s success as an outstanding protégé to BAE Systems which was administered by the Department of Defense Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization.
Aggie 100
The Aggie 100 identifies, recognizes and celebrates the 100 fastest growing Aggie-owned or Aggie-led businesses in the world. The Aggie 100 not only celebrates their success, it also provides a forum to pass lessons to the next generation of Aggie entrepreneurs.
BMI Defense Systems was awarded the second highest spot on the 2011 list of the fast growing Texas A&M University Aggie-owned companies.
The Fisher House Patriot Award
BMI Defense Systems was recognized with the Patriot Award in 2013 for assistance in building two Fisher Houses - Fisher House Bethesda, Maryland and the South Texas VA Fisher House in San Antonio, Texas.
The Fisher House Patriot Award was established in 2002 as a means of recognition to individuals and/or organizations which have been exceptionally supportive of the Fisher House program. Nominations are made to the President, Fisher House Foundation. The award is mirror polished, hand finished crystal, etched with a Fisher House Foundation logo, and the words:
Fisher House Patriot Award Recognizing extraordinary efforts supporting the quality of life of “our greatest national treasure...our military service men and women and their families."
Operation Homefront Back to School Brigade
BMI Defense Systems assisted in producing over 29,000 backpacks for Operation Homefront's Back to School Brigade.

Brazos Valley BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics
The Torch award is given to a company for their ability to operate successfully while keeping workplace and customer service values a priority. The BBB officials said the reason BMI Defense Systems was chosen was best expressed by a retired Marine Corps general in his reference letter: “They maintain a standard of ethical excellence unmatched by any other company I know …. and is directed by a team that exemplifies the best traits of family, business and community leadership.”
BMI Defense Supports Texas A&M Corps of Cadets
The March to the Brazos is the Corps of Cadets fundraiser for the March of Dimes. BMI Defense is pleased to support the Corps of Cadets in their endeavors and growth of future military men and women leaders. BMI Defense also established two educational scholarships for a junior or senior Cadet at Texas A&M University commissioning into the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army.

BMI Defense Systems Community Fund of the Brazos Valley
Established in 2003, the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley partners with organizations for charitable giving in the community. The foundation works with individuals, families, businesses and nonprofit organizations to build and manage permanent and quasi-endowment funding sources to support nonprofit organizations, scholarships and community grants within the Brazos Valley.
